UKCA and UAE

UKCA

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessment) marking regime represents a pivotal change for product conformity in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales) post-Brexit. Officially coming into effect on 1 January 2021, this new marking system signifies that a product has been assessed and meets the applicable UK standards for safety, health, and environmental protection.

Key dates:

  • 1 January 2021: From this date, the UKCA mark will be accepted for all relevant products sold in Great Britain – this will include a large proportion of goods that previously and currently hold CE mark status.
  • 30 June 2025: This date marks the end of the extended courtesy period for construction products.

On January 24, 2024, the Department of Business and Trade announced that the government plans to enact legislation to maintain recognition of EU standards, including the CE marking. However, this update will not affect the construction sector, where the CE marking will still be phased out in recognition of the UKCA marking by 30 June 2025, as previously scheduled.

Selling products in Northern Ireland: UKCA marking cannot be used for products on this market. CE marking supported by an EU27 notified body will continue to be valid, or the CE UK(NI) marking supported by a UK notified body.
